Audio filters change how the music sounds for everyone in the voice channel, live, without restarting the song. Each filter is a single command you can turn on and off. Here's what every one of them does.

How to use a filter

  1. 1
    Start some music
Filters apply to whatever Fibra is playing, so /play something first.
  2. 2
    Run the filter command
For example, type /bassboost. The change is heard within a second or two.
  3. 3
Run it again to turn it off
Or use /clearfilter to reset everything at once.

8D audio

8D moves the sound slowly from one ear to the other, so the music seems to circle around you. It only really works with headphones; on speakers it just sounds like the volume is going up and down.

Bass boost

Bass boost lifts the low end so kicks and basslines hit harder. It's the most popular filter for parties and gaming sessions. If the sound starts to distort, lower the /volume a little.

Nightcore and vaporwave

These two are opposites. Nightcore plays the song faster and higher, giving it a bright, energetic sound. Vaporwave plays it slower and lower for a hazy, dreamy feel, similar to "slowed and reverb" edits.

Lo-fi, low-pass and slow mode

  • Lo-fi gives music a warm, softened character that works well as background music.
  • Low-pass removes the high frequencies, so music sounds smoother and further away, like it's playing in the next room.
  • Slow mode reduces the speed while keeping the pitch the same, useful when learning a song or for a relaxed listen.

Karaoke

Karaoke reduces the vocals so your server can sing along. How well it works depends on the song: it's best on tracks where the vocals are mixed in the centre, which is most pop music.

Timescale

Timescale is the do-it-yourself filter. Set the speed, pitch and rate separately to create your own sound, from a subtle speed-up to something completely different.

Frequently asked questions

Do filters affect everyone in the voice channel?+

Yes. Filters change what Fibra sends to the voice channel, so everyone listening hears the same effect.

Why does 8D audio sound strange on speakers?+

8D moves the sound between your left and right ear, so it really needs headphones. On speakers it can sound like the volume is pulsing.

How do I turn all filters off?+

Run /clearfilter. It resets every filter at once.

Does a filter stay on for the next song?+

Yes. A filter stays on until you turn it off or clear filters, so you can enjoy a whole bass-boosted queue.
